Usman Hannan

Toronto-Mississauga Personal Injury Lawyer, Wrongful Dismissal Lawyer

I am a Toronto-Mississauga Personal Injury and Employment Litigation lawyer.

I started my professional studies to become a Medical Doctor. But not liking the medical school, I left Dhaka Medical College in 1999 after studying there for two years. I then joined University of Toronto's downtown campus, where I studied mathematics, economics and Middle East studies to graduate with B.A. Hons. with a High Distinction. Then I obtained M.A. in Economics from the University of Waterloo. Following this, I worked in Crown Corporations and in Waterloo/ McMaster University Economics Lecturer positions.  I then studied law at Toronto's Osgoode Hall Law School, and graduated with Juris Doctor (J.D) degree in 2011.

My diverse background, coupled with my two years of professional medical studies at the Dhaka Medical College gives me an edge in Personal Injury Litigation practice.

After articling/internship with Legal Aid Ontario's downtown Toronto office, I was called to the Ontario Bar in June, 2012 by the Law Society of Ontario. In the same year, having a family back-ground in law, I founded Hannan Hannan Barristers (HHB).

I am from a family of lawyers. My father was a lawyer, and two of my brothers are lawyers. Being a lawyer is both my profession and passion. I love my legal profession.

When I drop off my lawyer’s hat, I spend time with my wife Afifa and my three sons Tahmeed, Ibrahim and Ilyaas. I pray to Allah (Arabic for God), exercise to keep my Kung Fu kicks that I learnt as a child, read and listen interesting lectures and serve the community.

I am fluent in both English and Bangla.

Solicitor's Work:  I did a substantive amount of transactional solicitor's work during 2012 to 2017, which includes thousands of real estate closings, advising small corporations, and works on wills & power of attorney. Since late 2018, I discontinued corporate law and estate law practice, and significantly downsized real estate closing work in order to dedicate most of my professional time on Trial Advocacy in Personal Injury and Wrongful Dismissal cases, where I find my passion the strongest.
